William F. Buchanan
Professional Experience
Bill Buchanan was born in Bend and grew up on a wheat farm and cattle ranch in rural Eastern Oregon. During his college years at Oregon State University he served as an intern for United States Senator Mark O. Hatfield and as a legislative clerk to the Washington D.C. law firm of Van Ness, Feldman and Curtis, P.C.
These experiences galvanized Bill's interest in the law. Bill returned to Oregon in 1993 and practiced for several years in Portland with Miller Nash LLP before returning to his hometown of Bend to practice with Karnopp Petersen. A litigator by trade, he assists clients in resolving their civil disputes both in the courtroom and at the bargaining table. Bill focuses his practice on business and property related litigation, public infrastructure law, and takings and condemnation law. He represents individuals and businesses in venues throughout Oregon, including state and federal courts, administrative forums, mediations, arbitrations and negotiations.
