Ian J. Osteen
Ian joined the Business Law Department at Karnopp Petersen in early 2018. Ian’s business law practice focuses on business transactions, real estate transactions, entity choice and formation, federal and state securities issues, intellectual property and tech agreements, employment law issues, as well as state and federal trademark matters. Ian has a broad range of experience advising businesses and business owners, commercial real estate developers, and individuals.
Prior to joining Karnopp Petersen, Ian practiced law in both Portland and Eugene, serving as an outside general counsel to businesses located throughout the country. He has significant experience in advising businesses in startup and early stage compliance, brand management related issues, as well as technology and software licensing. Early in his career, Ian also gained experience representing individuals that had been denied social security disability benefits in federal administrative hearings throughout the Pacific Northwest and American Southwest.
Ian was raised in Richardson, Texas, and graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana in 2011. Ian then attended the University of Oregon School of Law, focusing his studies on international business law while earning his J.D. and tax law certificate. During his time at the University of Oregon School of Law, Ian studied European Union law as part of a summer program at Oxford University, and also spent a summer working at the City of Bend’s City Attorney’s Office.
