Jon Napier


A native Oregonian, Jon Napier was born in Ashland. After law school, Jon practiced for four years with Miller Nash LLP in Portland, Oregon. Jon joined Karnopp Petersen in 2002.

A partner in the firm, Jon regularly counsels a broad range of clients in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, business transactions, employment law, finance and securities, startups, and real estate transactions. Among other areas of practice, Jon has significant experience with buying and selling businesses, contract negotiations and drafting, structuring business entities, private placements, representing lenders and borrowers, commercial lease work, buying and selling real property, preparing legal opinions, counseling employers, and drafting employment agreements and employee handbooks. Jon has served as Karnopp Petersen’s managing partner, chair of its business department, and chair of its employment law department, and has been a frequent speaker on a variety of legal topics.


Jon donates legal services to a number of nonprofits, and has served on the City of Bend’s CDBG and Housing Advisory Committee and the Bend Chamber of Commerce’s Business Success Council. Jon is a graduate of the Bend Chamber of Commerce Leadership Bend Program and a member of the Oregon State Bar and Deschutes County Bar Association.


Outside of the office, Jon enjoys spending time with his wife, Shelley, and their two children, hiking and fly-fishing, and is an avid lacrosse fan.
