Megan joined Karnopp Petersen in 2020 as an associate practicing in the area of civil litigation.
Practice Areas
Megan began her education and career with a focus on civil rights and providing access to justice for civil litigants and criminal defendants alike, working with legal aid organizations in her community as well as public defender agencies, including the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of California in San Francisco. Her commitment to access to justice continued while she gained experience with complex civil litigation at the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, where she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable William H. Alsup and served as both a judicial extern and post-graduate law clerk for the Honorable Laurel Beeler.
Megan is at home handling civil litigation at every stage and through trial in any forum, having handled litigation of all types and levels of complexity not only in federal court but also state court as well. Megan brings four years of experience practicing as a court attorney and supporting the bench in resolving all manner of disputes in Silicon Valley.
While Megan enjoys and continues to have a varied practice encompassing areas from land use and Indian law to commercial contracts and employment law, she has a particular interest in the intersection of law and technology and gained much experience with software-licensing agreements, novel technologies, and trade secrets, and business litigation (sounding in tort and contract) while practicing in the Bay Area. Megan continues to provide her community with the best representation and access to justice as an Associate at Karnopp Petersen.
Education & Awards
Megan earned a B.A. in Political Science with a specialization in Legal Studies from Seattle University in 2012.
She then attended the University of California, Hastings College of the Law where she received her J.D. with honors and concentrated studies in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution.

Personal Interests
Megan enjoys skiing, rock climbing, backpacking, paddling, and canine agility. She’s had the luck of the draw and summited Mt. Whitney twice. Most weekends, she can be found cross-country skiing with her husband and Morel, her German Wirehaired Pointer. To fuel these pursuits, Megan and her family enjoy making and sharing sourdough pizza (favorite combos: spicy Hawaiian and Kitchen Sink).
